Time to look at the Taurus Super Full Moon
Dear Reader,
Have you looked at the Moon lately? It’s big! In fact, today’s Super Full Moon is the biggest and brightest of the year, sitting closer to us in its orbit around the Earth than any other Full Moon. If skies are clear where you are, step outside tonight (or tomorrow night), even for just a moment. It’s worth seeing.
Guided by the Super Full Moon in Taurus
The Moon opposed the Sun at 13 degrees of Taurus at 2:20 pm CET today (convert to your local time here). The next aspect the Moon will make is a wide sextile with Jupiter in Cancer. Venus, the ruler of Taurus and presiding deity of this Full Moon, is in Libra, still close to its recent square with Jupiter.
There’s something really special about this Full Moon. Venus, who rules this lunation, is siting at the exact same degree as the New Moon in Libra that started this cycle, with both lunations ruled by Venus in her own sign. The Moon is in its sign of exaltation. And both the Moon and Venus are connecting with Jupiter, who’s exalted in Cancer, the Moon’s sign.
What does all this mean for us? There's so much support flowing through this astrology. This is a time when giving and receiving comfort and care comes more naturally. We can be gentler with ourselves and extend that same compassion to those around us.
With Taurus, I’ve been reflecting on receiving somatic support from Kelly McCarthy to help me navigate chronic pain (and the fear of doctor’s visits). It’s been such a gift to have a container where I can come as I am, and where I’m gently guided to be a little more present with my body.
There’s real power in holding space for one another. I find that we don’t need to be perfect for the magic to unfold — just present and kind. Grace will wrap us in the warmest of hugs. Hearts will soften and pour into us. Genius will awaken and guide our way.
Caring for ourselves and one another doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes the smallest gestures — a thought, a moment of attention, a little tenderness — are all that we need to feel ready to meet the next moment.
A friend recently taught me something simple but profound: when you have something scary or overwhelming coming up, ask someone to think of you at that exact time. That's it. It sounds almost too simple to work, but it does. Knowing someone is holding me in their thoughts, even from far away, truly helps.
With the Full Moon being in conversation with Jupiter, I’ve also been reflecting on the art of receiving. A friend recently gifted me a writing retreat, and while it’s bringing me so much joy (and hope), I’m noticing how tricky it is for me, still, to fully receive — and in doing so, honor my friend. I love thinking about gift economy, and this is about the inner work of feeling worthy enough to freely receive. (And if you want to join me for a week of writing, warmth, and wonder at the end of November (and you speak some German), you can sign up for Schreibwoche here.)
