Aries New Moon — Burn, or you’ve not been at all

Layered blue-gray clouds melting into a coral sunset glow

Dear Reader,

We’re in the last moments of the dark, balsamic phase of the Moon, just before the New Moon in Aries arrives. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll join me in closing out this lunar cycle, from March 19th to April 17th, with some reflection on what’s been unfolding for you.

Guided by the New Moon in Aries

The Moon renews itself at 27 degrees of fiery Aries today, April 17th, at 1:52 pm CEST, bringing new beginnings in who we dare to be and what we dare to do. With more planets in Aries than we’ve ever seen, all planets moving direct, and Uranus about to enter Gemini, this lunar cycle carries real momentum for us.

If astro details aren’t your thing, skip ahead to “The New Moon in Aries & YOU” for some practical magic.

So many planets in Aries

It's not every day we see this many planets in one sign. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune — Chiron, too — are all gathered in Aries. (The last time we had six planets in Aries was 1869, just to give you an idea.)

Aries is the first breath of spring, when new life bursts forth. It calls us to act on the desires we’ve been quietly tending through the dark of winter. Not because we’re ready or have a plan. Because something in us says now.

The Sun and Moon are in late Aries, closely conjoined with Chiron, who entered Aries in the spring of 2018. For the past eight years, identity and self-trust might have been tender places, especially in the Aries house of our birth charts. With Chiron’s presence at this New Moon, we’re invited to foster our courage to be uniquely, unapologetically who we are and forge our own path.

Both luminaries widely square Jupiter, who is still in Cancer for another two and a half months. Jupiter is happy to offer its support — as long as we hold the tension between being true to ourselves and remaining open and attuned to those around us.

Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune are conjoined in early Aries. Mars, the ruler of Aries and host of the New Moon, will come together with Saturn on April 20th, and Mercury will join them later that day. From mid to late April, all three are visible in the eastern sky just before dawn, with Mercury shining brightest.

When Mars meets Saturn, we’re asked to act with integrity, work within our limits, and confront challenges head-on. With Mercury joining, this is also a time to speak our truth, articulate our struggles, navigate conflict, and tackle something that's been weighing on us.

With Neptune nearby, we’re called to surrender our personal agendas, prioritize compassion, and recommit to our spiritual practice and inner life. Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune all sextile Pluto in Aquarius, helping us go deep and get to the roots of what we’re facing.

Uranus re-enters Gemini

The end of April brings another major shift, when Uranus moves into Gemini, the last in a wave of outer planets changing signs. Pluto has been in Aquarius since 2023/24, Neptune in Aries since 2025/26, and now Uranus follows. All three change from earth and water signs to fire and air, marking an elemental shift from depth and introspection toward speed and direct expression.

Before Uranus leaves Taurus — where it’s been since May of 2018 — Venus comes to meet it at the final degree, exact on April 24th. At home in Taurus, Venus is happy to help us appreciate the (perhaps surprising) lessons of the last seven years about what grounds us in our bodies and lives, especially in the Taurus house of our birth charts.

Venus then leads Uranus into Gemini, entering two days ahead of it. We already had a brief taste of this chapter when Uranus dipped into Gemini last year, from early July to early November. Think back: What shifted in your Gemini house during that time? It might hold clues for what’s to come as Uranus settles into this place in our charts for the next seven years. It’s where life is about to get more electric, unpredictable, and alive.
