Things take the time they take at the Virgo Solar Eclipse
Dear Reader,
I’m writing to you at the tail end of the lunar cycle, closing out the month with a bit of reflection and journaling. I celebrated my birthday during this lunation, made memories with my mom, shared space with a band of semi-wild horses, and renewed my writing practice in community with some lovely humans during Schreibwoche.
What’s been here for you?
What are you grateful for?
Guided by the Virgo Solar Eclipse
Today brings the second of two eclipses and two Virgo New Moons in a row. As the Moon passes between us and the Sun, it blocks its light from fully reaching us. This deep partial eclipse will be visible from New Zealand, several Pacific islands, Australia’s easternmost coast, and parts of Antarctica. Whether or not you’re in the path of the eclipse, you can marvel at eclipse crescents with me here.
Happening at the final degree of Virgo, just before the Equinox, this eclipse is here to help us refine our intentions and reset our routines. Virgo’s wisdom lies in infusing our everyday lives with our deepest intentions, prayers, and blessings. This precision of purpose and appreciation of small moments that make up our lives are how Virgo cares.
What intentions are guiding you?
How are you finding magic in the everyday?
Occurring near the South Node of the Moon, the eclipse asks us to let go the idea of perfection and the need to control every last detail. Shadow Virgo can get lost in overthinking and pick apart everything we do in fear of not being good enough. If we want to reset our trust in the natural unfolding of things and restore optimal flow to our lives, we need to remember to listen to the present moment. It will tell us what anything is for.
What routines are ready for a reset?
What makes this Virgo Solar Eclipse special
The Moon conjoins the Sun at 29 degrees of Virgo on September 21st at 9:55 pm CET (convert to your local time here).
Horoscope for the Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21st, 2025
1
The eclipse opposes Saturn, which moved back into Pisces in early September. Saturn is now at its closest to the Earth and brightest in the night sky, yet it remains invisible at the horizon, giving it an air of mystery. Though Saturn is retrograde, it moves fast when closest to its exact opposition with the Sun, helping us retrace our steps and tie up loose ends in the Pisces house of our birth charts.
In Saturn land, things take the time they need. With Saturn in Pisces, dreamtime and downtime become essential for creating something meaningful and lasting. Saturn opposite the eclipse points out where we’ve exhausted ourselves by being too critical, and where we need to protect our energy and give ourselves a break.

Watching over the eclipse is Mercury in Libra, ready to help us shine light on everything that’s beautiful in the world through our words, poems, and prayers, in ways that create deeper appreciation and connection. Venus in Virgo, copresent with the eclipse and exchanging signs with Mercury, is here to remind us that love is a daily practice and beauty is in the details.
Connected through mutual reception, Mercury and Venus are working together to help us marry our everyday lives with love, beauty, and creativity. With their help, we’re able to view our lives as the raw material for our art, and our daily routines — approached with devotion and care — as the foundation of a meaningful, creative existence.
Mercury is still aspecting the rare alignment between Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius, helping us to give voice to our evolving vision of a more beautiful world. This outer planet mini triangle in air and fire, in effect between 2025 and 2029, will start to break up temporarily when Neptune retrogrades back into Pisces on October 22nd, followed by Uranus moving back into Taurus on November 8th.
The Virgo Solar Eclipse and YOU
Just like the last eclipse, this eclipse is part of a larger story that began a year ago, when we had the first of seven eclipses to take place on the Virgo-Pisces axis. These eclipses will bounce back and forth between the Virgo and Pisces houses in your birth chart until February 2027.
More specifically, look back to mid March of this year — the last time we had an eclipse in Virgo. What was happening six months ago that you might be ready to revisit now for a part two, particularly when it comes to your Virgo house?
Following a 19-year rhythm, this eclipse also connects us back to September 2006, when we had the last South Node Solar Eclipse at 29 degrees of Virgo. What was happening in your life then, especially around your Virgo house and any natal placements you may have at or near the eclipse degree? What from that time is rhyming with now?
What are you circling back to?
What story is ready for a new chapter?
Most importantly, if you’re feeling tired or overwhelmed by the intensity of eclipse season, prioritize rest and gentle self-care, and give yourself space to move towards what’s calling you. You can draw on the Mercury-Venus field to find loving words to say to yourself, and maybe send some back through time to your 19-year younger self as well.
Until next time...
I’m looking forward to writing to you again around the time of the Full Moon in Aries on October 7th, which will mark the halfway point in the lunar cycle (Ah!) and the end of eclipse season (Phew!).
In the meantime, you’re invited to take some of the questions sprinkled throughout this newsletter on your walk or into your journal, your dreamtime, or any other kind of creative or contemplative practice, either solo or with others. I hope they help you gently move through the rest of eclipse season.
Wishing you moments of calm and reflection wherever you are!
