Taurus Full Moon — Time to relax with yourself as you are

Soft gray and white clouds spread across a pale blue sky, dense and layered across the upper part and thinning into faint streaks toward the bottom

Dear reader,

Today’s Full Moon in Taurus marks the peak of the Libra lunar cycle that opened on October 10th. It illuminates what’s been growing in the garden of our lives since then, and since May’s New Moon in Taurus — and where there’s still room to grow.

Guided by the Full Moon in Taurus & Venus retrograde

The Moon becomes fully illuminated at 2 degrees of Taurus on October 26th at 5:11 am CET, and with it, our bodily awareness and self-worth. This Full Moon is here to help us open our senses, get in touch with our own experience, and learn to stay with ourselves.

The Full Moon sits in a closely applying square with Pluto, god of the underworld, who recently changed direction and is now starting to move forward again. This is a Full Moon that wants us to grow in gentle persistence by unearthing our deepest feelings and turning toward the parts of ourselves that are crying out to us for care.

Usually, a Full Moon in Taurus is special because the Moon is exalted here, which gives it extra strength and makes for an especially good time to connect with our emotions, bodies, and everyday lives. But Venus, who rules Taurus and therefore this Full Moon, is moving retrograde, so it may not lift the Moon to its highest expression as easily. That support can come when we’re willing to join Venus by retracing our own steps.

At the time of the Full Moon, Venus, goddess of love, is in its own sign of Libra. It backs out of Scorpio (where it was at the New Moon) and into Libra today, October 25th, shortly before the exact Full Moon, reactivating the Libra parts of our charts, where Venus already visited between August 6th and September 10th, giving us the gift of a second chance with something or someone.

Venus is coming fresh off its interior conjunction with the Sun at 0 degrees of Scorpio, starting a whole new 19-month cycle. Venus is now past the deepest point of its underworld journey, starting to make its way back up toward reemergence — and somewhere in our lives, so are we.

Venus sits in a closely applying opposition with retrograde Chiron, the wise centaur, linking this Full Moon with Chiron’s last visit to Aries — and the Aries parts of our charts — and helping us complete this chapter in our healing journey around selfhood and self-assertion.

Venus also sits in an applying sextile with Jupiter. Just like at the last New Moon, the king of the gods is offering a helping hand at this lunation. In Leo, Jupiter affirms our unique brilliance and self-expression, making it easier for us to find comfort in filling up with our own inner light and sharing our special magic wherever we happen to be.

The Full Moon in Taurus & you

To work with the Full Moon in your own chart, find the house where you have Taurus, the sign of the Full Moon. It shows where things are culminating in your life — and where you’re invited to slow down, stay with your here-and-now experience, and cultivate steadfastness with yourself.

If you have any planets or angles at or near 2 degrees of Taurus — or Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius — or if you’re in a Taurus profection year, this Full Moon may pull on you more.

I’m looking forward to writing to you again as we draw closer to the New Moon in Scorpio on November 9th at 8:02 am CET. It marks the end of this lunar cycle and the beginning of a new one.

In the meantime, you can take the questions from this newsletter with you on your walk, into your journal, or wherever else feels right. I hope they tickle you and help you weave yourself into the mystery of this Taurus Full Moon.

As always, we’ll be rounding out the lunar cycle together, and you’re warmly invited to join us for an hour of gentle reflection — again, or for the first time — at the next Balsamic Moon Circle on November 6th.
