Pisces Lunar Eclipse — Time to lean into the mystery
Dear Reader,
We’ve been in the liminal space between eclipses — the Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse on August 12th and the Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, which happens late on the 27th or early on the 28th, depending on where you are in the world. It’s a rich time for inner exploration, when what’s been hidden in the dark is brought to light, asking to be felt and met.
This is our farewell eclipse in the sign of the fishes — the last Pisces eclipse in a series moving back and forth along the Virgo-Pisces axis since September 2024. While one more eclipse falls in Virgo next February, we’re wrapping up a two-year journey related to our dreams, imagination, intuition, and ideals.
Guided by the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
On August 28th at 6:18 am CEST, the Sun, Earth, and Moon line up for a Lunar Eclipse at 4 degrees of Pisces, near the North Node of the Moon. This eclipse reveals our longing to go beyond what we know and open ourselves to the greater mystery of life.
Every Lunar Eclipse happens during a Full Moon, when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon. But not every Full Moon creates an eclipse. Only when the Moon is near one of the Lunar Nodes — where the path of the Moon crosses that of the Sun — do the three bodies line up closely enough for the Earth’s shadow to fall on the Moon. When the Moon passes deep into that shadow, as it will on August 28th, nearly its whole face darkens and takes on a reddish glow, save for a sunlit sliver. Near the North Node, this eclipse exposes something novel wanting to come through. It guides us toward embracing the parts of ourselves that are highly sensitive, intuitive, imaginative, compassionate, and creative — and that feel new or unfamiliar to us, even risky to fully live into. The eclipse asks: What would life be like if we let mystery lead, trusting what we can’t yet see? What might we find if we were willing to get lost for a while?
